Chipper WOD Generator
Generate heavy chipper WODs — once-through for-time workouts with 4-6 movements and high rep counts. Built-in timer included.
Generate a chipper WODA chipper is a once-through for-time workout: complete all the reps of one movement before moving to the next. No rounds, no cycling back — you chip through the list from top to bottom as fast as possible.
Chippers favour volume over intensity, which makes them uniquely gruelling. The rep counts are high enough that pacing decisions matter from the first movement. This generator builds chippers from 4 to 7 movements, calibrating reps to the difficulty of each exercise.
How to Order a Chipper
Classic chipper programming starts with the highest-rep, lowest-skill movements and ends with the highest-skill or most demanding movements. This front-loads volume when you're fresh and saves technical work for when fatigue is highest — counterintuitive but it tends to produce better movement quality across the whole workout. The generator applies this ordering principle automatically.
Breaking Up Chipper Reps Strategically
On any chipper movement with 30+ reps, your break strategy matters more than your raw speed. The best approach: break early and break consistently. 3 sets of 10 with 15-second rest beats an unbroken 30 followed by 60 seconds of gasping. Find a set size you can hold across all your sets and stay there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a chipper workout?
A chipper is a for-time workout where you complete all the reps of each movement before moving to the next. Unlike AMRAPs or EMOMs, there are no rounds — you work through the list once from top to bottom.
How many movements should a chipper have?
Four to six movements is typical. Fewer than four and it becomes more of a couplet or triplet. More than seven and the workout gets very long and becomes more about surviving than conditioning.
How long do chipper WODs take?
Most competitive chippers finish between 12 and 25 minutes. The generator calibrates rep counts to land in this range based on the movements selected.
