Engineered workouts · 1,106 in the library

Every workout,
built the way a
coach would.

Hit generate and get a coherent workout — sometimes a proven benchmark, sometimes one the machine builds for you — with volume, load, time and movements kept in balance the way a coach would. No more heavy load and 90 reps and a 20-minute cap.

What is WodMachine?

WodMachine is a free functional-fitness workout generator that builds sessions around the equipment, time, movements, and training focus you choose. Instead of placing random exercises beside a random rep scheme, it checks movement patterns, difficulty, loading, volume, and time domain together. The result can be a short bodyweight WOD, a full hour with warm-up and skill work, or a benchmark from the workout library. Every result includes scaling information and a built-in timer, and the public generators work without an account.

Use it when you need a structured workout at home, in a hotel, or in an unfamiliar gym. Select only the gear you actually have, optionally include or exclude movements, and adjust the result to your current ability. WodMachine provides programming support, not individualized coaching or medical advice, so technique, load, range of motion, and intensity should always be scaled responsibly.

How does the WodMachine algorithm work?

WodMachine generates workouts by pairing a movement-selection engine with a constraint solver. The engine draws from a library of 1,106+ benchmark workouts and 192 classified exercises, each tagged with a movement pattern (push, pull, squat, hinge, mono-structural), difficulty tier, and equipment requirement. When you hit generate, the algorithm first filters the exercise pool by your available equipment and any include/exclude preferences, then selects movements that cover complementary patterns so the session is balanced rather than random.

How does the generator balance volume, load, and time?

After selecting movements, the constraint solver assigns rep counts, loading, and a time domain that stay coupled. A heavy barbell movement gets fewer reps and a longer cap; a bodyweight conditioning piece gets higher volume and a shorter window. The solver prevents combinations that real coaches would reject — such as heavy loading combined with high reps under a short time cap — by enforcing ratio boundaries derived from the benchmark library. The result is a workout that reads like one a coach programmed, not a random exercise list.

What workout formats does WodMachine support?

WodMachine produces workouts in the formats used across functional fitness: For Time, AMRAP (as many rounds as possible), EMOM (every minute on the minute), Tabata intervals, and chipper-style sessions. Each format carries its own constraint profile. An AMRAP needs a sustainable pace across movements, so the algorithm limits individual-movement difficulty. A For Time workout can include heavier loads because the athlete controls rest. The built-in timer automatically matches the selected format, including countdown, round tracking, and audible cues.

How it works

Three steps. Zero guesswork.

1

Set your gear

Tell it what equipment you have. Optionally include or exclude specific movements — hard movements automatically get a scaled alternative.

2

Hit generate

Get a proven benchmark from the library or a freshly built WOD — either way the volume, load, time and movements stay coupled, never random.

3

Train with the timer

Open any WOD card and press Start. A 10-second get-ready countdown leads in, then the clock runs your format — For Time, AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata or intervals.

No excuses. Just train.
